On the 15th October 2019, a new variant of Archeage was released. Archeage: Unchained, a non-pay-to-win version that hyped many fans, including us. I, Jak, played the original Archeage at alpha, beta, and launch in 2014, where I had many fond memories of this game. Unfortunately, with the game being pay-to-win, it quickly made me stop playing it. So with this non-pay-to-win release, I managed to gather a handful of us and went head-on with a 26-hour stream for the launch of Unchained!

After some weeks, the launch settled down, and we got to grips with the game, its mechanics, how to earn gold, trade runs, and the PvP. We had quite a lot of fun and enjoyed it for the most part.

However, issues started to creep in, beginning with the Archepass, a battlepass-of-sorts for the game where we did X things to complete quest Y for the reward Z. There were many issues with this system, bugs mostly, people were not happy. It got disabled, and reworked, "fixed" and then re-released approximately 6 weeks later. During this time, other things like Library, an instance to kill some bosses was lagging the entire server every 4 hours, 6 times a day, for weeks, until the devs finally disabled it. 3 months later and there has still been no public announcements of a fix or plans to bring it back.

We got very tired of all the bugs and nonsense from the devs. All the constant daily quests became a chore, and we started to become disinterest in the game rather quickly... Around Christmas time, the devs decided to give everyone, all 3 Archepass track rewards for free. Everyone that put effort into completing the Archepass was made pointless. This was the final nail in the coffin for us. The moment they announced this, people uninstalled the game without thinking twice about it.

It was done — a sad ending to what could have been one of the best MMO's to date.

Now we await for New World.
